A professional opportunity is available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential language interpretation services within educational settings. This role involves travel to various schools in the Norman, Oklahoma area, delivering clear and accurate communication support to students and staff who use American Sign Language (ASL).
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and administrators.
- Support students access to the general education curriculum by ensuring accurate and timely interpretation.
- Collaborate with educators, speech therapists, and other professionals to enhance educational outcomes.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpretations.
- Travel regularly to multiple school locations within the Norman region as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings.
