What you'll bring to the role:
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, plus a passing score on the written test
- Alternative qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpretation in school or educational settings
- Flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to student success
As a valued member of the educational team, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across a variety of classroom and school activities
- Working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate clear communication and support instructional goals
- Translating spoken language into sign language, ensuring accurate and age-appropriate interpretations
- Assisting in creating a positive, inclusive environment so that every student can thrive academically and socially
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional and ethical standards
