Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing 1:1 interpreting support for a high school student. This contract opportunity is located near Newbury Park, CA, with the option for onsite or virtual service. The position focuses on providing essential communication access during two daily academic periods throughout the week, fostering both academic and personal growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification is required
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of 4.0 or higher
  • Previous experience supporting students in a school environment
  • Proven skills in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, real-time American Sign Language interpretation for a high school student during scheduled class periods
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Collaborate with educators and school staff to support the students academic and social inclusion
  • Provide support for both educational and extra-curricular activities as needed
  • Adhere to ethical standards of the interpreting profession and school policies

Youll participate in the students learning routine Monday through Friday, within consistent hours designed to promote work-life balance. MondayThursday includes two periods from 10:18 AM11:48 AM and 12:29 PM1:59 PM; Fridays follow a slightly adjusted schedule.
