A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff within educational settings. This role involves travel assignments, providing interpreting services in a variety of schools to facilitate effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff. The position is based in New Haven, CT, with travel throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpreting services in classroom, meeting, and extracurricular settings.
- Facilitate communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students, educators, and peers.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to diverse educational environments and needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and support personnel to enhance the learning experience.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills.
- Experience in educational settings preferred.
- Knowledge of deaf culture and communication access principles.
