This full-time contract opportunity extends from now through May 28, 2026, serving a single kindergarten student in a 1:1 setting near New Bern, NC. You'll become an essential communication partner, fostering inclusivity and helping your student thrive in the classroom.
What you bring:
- Valid licensure with a qualifying EIPA score
- Experience or specialized training in K-12 educational settings
- Proficiency in expressive and receptive ASL interpretation
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical professional standards
- Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families
- Patient, adaptable approach suited to the needs of young children
What youll do:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation between student, peers, and staff
- Support classroom participation, comprehension, and social interaction
- Adjust communication style and interpretation strategies as needed
- Provide feedback to educational teams regarding student progress
- Contribute to an inclusive and responsive learning environment
- Keep detailed and accurate documentation as required
- Attend IEP meetings or other relevant planning sessions
