Job Description

This contract opportunity supports students in an elementary setting, offering flexibility to work either full or part time, based onsite. The position is itinerant, providing valuable experience across various classrooms as you support communication between students, staff, and educators.

Your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter or American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher will play an essential role in student success and inclusion. Collaborate closely with school personnel, adapt to dynamic educational settings, and facilitate meaningful interactions that enhance learning and social participation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or TeacherAmerican Sign Language, preferably in a school or pediatric setting
  • Relevant certification or licensing within the state, if applicable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with students and staff
  • Flexibility to work in an itinerant role, traveling between locations as needed
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and student-centered support

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and effective sign language interpretation between students, educators, and peers
  • Support academic and social growth for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an elementary setting
  • Partner with classroom teachers to ensure instructional accessibility
