A travel opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication access within educational settings. This role involves providing interpretation services between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English for students, educators, and staff to ensure effective and inclusive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken and signed communication accurately and impartially during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and administrators
- Assist in developing educational plans that accommodate students' communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all interactions
- Travel to various school locations in and around Nampa, ID, to provide services as needed
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification or equivalent professional experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Previous experience working in K-12 educational environments preferred
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and effective communication strategies
- Flexibility to travel regularly within the assigned region
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Location: This role is based in Nampa, Idaho, with travel required to multiple schools within the region.
