Job Description

Providing essential communication support, this role involves working as a Sign Language Interpreter serving an elementary school caseload across multiple school buildings. The position is itinerant, requiring travel between five different schools in a rapidly growing suburban area near a major city, ideal for professionals seeking travel contracts in education.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality sign language interpretation services for elementary school students.
  • Managing an itinerant caseload across five separate school locations.

  • Staying current with best practices and ethical guidelines in sign language interpreting.

Qualifications and experience preferred:

  • EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher; 4.0 preferred.
  • Previous experience interpreting in school settings, especially elementary schools.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a floating caseload.
  • Strong communication skills and cultural competency in Deaf education settings.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly between schools.
