Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Elementary Schools
Location: Mount Prospect, Illinois area (In-Person)
Schedule: Full-Time
We are seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support elementary students across a multi-building school program in the Mount Prospect area. This is a full-time itinerant position, ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day and building strong relationships across multiple school communities.
Position Overview
This role will provide interpreting services for elementary students while traveling between 5 different school buildings. The interpreter will support student access to instruction, communication, and participation throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for students in classroom and school-based settings
- Travel between elementary school buildings to support assigned students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
- Support student inclusion in academic and social environments
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all educational and ethical guidelines
Qualifications
- Active Illinois PEL with Sign Language Interpreter endorsement
- EIPA score of 3.5+ (or state-required equivalent)
- Previous experience interpreting in school or pediatric settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of ASL and Deaf culture
- Ability to work independently while managing a multi-site schedule
- Reliable transportation required

Compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 to $40.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
