Job Description

In this role, youll work closely with students, teachers, and staff to interpret classroom instruction, school events, and other activities. Your expertise will ensure that all students have equal access to learning and social interaction in a dynamic school setting.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience interpreting in a school or educational environment is highly valued
  • Familiarity with various communication modalities supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Ability to adhere to student confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Holds current relevant certification (such as EIPA or RID, or meets state interpreter requirements)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom lessons, school events, meetings, and other academic-related activities
  • Support students comprehension and participation in daily curriculum
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to address specific student needs
  • Provide interpretation services in one-on-one and group settings
  • Adapt language usage for age-appropriateness and content accuracy
  • Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality at all times
