Job Description

A school district in Modesto, CA is seeking six Sign Language Interpreters to support K-12 students for the upcoming school year. This is a contract opportunity offering a mix of full-time and part-time positions to work in educational settings.

Position Details:

  • Location: Modesto, CA
  • Full-time and part-time roles available
  • Full-time interpreters will work primarily in Special Education (SPED) classrooms
  • Part-time interpreters will assist in General Education classrooms
  • Onsite work required; virtual options are not available
  • Students primarily have mild to moderate needs
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are highly desirable due to the predominantly Spanish-speaking student population

Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 4.0 or higher is mandatory
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in K-12 academic settings
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators and specialists in delivering accessible instruction
  • Spanish language skills are strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication by providing accurate and effective sign language interpretation for students in various classroom environments
  • Support students academic, social, and linguistic needs as part of the educational team
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and district meetings
