Job Description

A full-time contract position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide school-based interpreting services for one elementary student. This role requires a dedicated professional with proven expertise in American Sign Language interpretation within an educational setting.

Location:
Midland, North Carolina, specifically serving North Stanly Middle School.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Sign Language Interpreting (SLI) services to support an elementary students communication needs in a classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to facilitate effective communication and inclusion.
  • Utilize ECATS (Exceptional Children Tracking System) for documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with all district and state guidelines for educational interpreting.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings or training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Active North Carolina NCDPI Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license must be presented with application.
  • An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is required.
  • Experience and proficiency using ECATS for student documentation.
  • Previous experience interpreting in schools, preferably working with elementary-aged students.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary educational team.

Contract Details:

  • Employment dates: August 4, 2026, through May 28, 2027.
  • Full-time role with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours.
