Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting in an educational or school-based setting is highly valued
• Understanding of interpreter roles and professional boundaries in the classroom
• Able to adapt signing for students at different grade or ability levels
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with both students and faculty
• National or state interpreting credentials preferred (such as EIPA, RID certification, or equivalent)
• Reliability, punctuality, and a positive, student-focused attitude

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, educators, and staff
• Accurately convey meaning, tone, and intent while maintaining confidentiality
• Prepare for lessons and adapts sign language delivery to support student comprehension
• Clarify communication breakdowns as needed, always maintaining professional boundaries
• Collaborate with teachers and other school professionals to support students success and inclusion
• Support students during various school events or extracurricular activities as requested
