Job Description

Skilled in fostering meaningful communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their hearing peers, youll play a pivotal role within supportive elementary and intermediate educational settings. This is an onsite, contract opportunity to provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting, as well as academic assistance, for the duration of the 2026-2027 school year, with a constant need starting as soon as possible. Full-time hours are approximately 30 per week, offering a consistent schedule across five available positions.

What Youll Bring:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language, with the ability to facilitate effective communication in diverse learning environments
  • Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or a 4.0+ score on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
  • Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 may be considered for an ASL Para designation
  • Fluency in ASL plus an Associates degree also welcomed
  • Comfort supporting students in both academic and life/vocational skill subjects
  • Ability to monitor and engage students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
  • Preference is taken into account for assignment at elementary or intermediate school levels

Your Responsibilities:

  • Interpret sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign in classrooms and throughout the school day
  • Support student success in reading, math, and other core subjects
  • Aid with the acquisition of life and vocational skills
  • Supervise and assist students in various school activities

This role is strictly onsite, allowing for hands-on collaboration with students, teachers, and school staff.
