Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, onsite position plays a vital role in fostering accessible education and an inclusive learning environment. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours daily for a total of 37.5 hours a week, beginning August 10, 2026, and concluding May 27, 2027. With a small, focused caseload, you'll work closely with students to enable their full participation in academic and extracurricular activities.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and valid Sign Language Interpreter license in the State of North Carolina
- Prior experience in an educational setting is highly valued
- Comprehensive knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Deaf culture
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for building connections with students, staff, and families
- Strong ethical standards and professionalism
- Availability to work onsite only
Core Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and educational staff
- Interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and school activities fluently and accurately
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt educational materials as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to ethical guidelines
- Assist in the integration of students into the school community
