Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Valid certification as an educational interpreter or required state credentials
• Familiarity with interpreting in classroom and educational settings
• Ability to adapt interpreting methods to various age groups and learning needs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and school activities between staff and students
• Convert spoken language to ASL (or other relevant sign systems) and vice versa
• Foster a supportive and respectful learning atmosphere
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to best serve students' educational goals
• Maintain accurate records of services provided as required by the school
• Participate in IEP meetings and relevant training sessions to stay current with best practices
