Job Description

A professional with expertise in American Sign Language interpretation is needed for educational settings specializing in support for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. This role involves travel to schools in the Long Beach, CA area, providing vital communication access for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff by interpreting spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
  • Support classroom instruction by ensuring students can fully participate in academic activities.
  • Collaborate with educators, counselors, and other support personnel to adapt materials and methods to meet students communication needs.
  • Attend meetings and school events as necessary to provide interpreting services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
