Job Description
A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff in educational settings. This travel assignment offers the opportunity to provide essential communication assistance within schools, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Responsibilities include:
- Interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities.
- Facilitating clear communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Adapting interpreting strategies to meet the diverse needs of each educational setting.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills.
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments preferred.
- Ability to travel between assignments as required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
Location: Littleton, Colorado area, with travel to various school assignments as needed.
