Job Description

Seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support students across a variety of school sites within a dynamic educational environment. This full-time, full-school-year contract opportunity involves working with both special education and general education populations, ranging from mild to severe needs. As an itinerant interpreter, youll have the chance to collaborate with educators and specialists at multiple locations, making a significant difference in students academic and communicative success.

Key Qualifications:

  • EIPA Score of 3.5 or above required
  • Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 settings, supporting SPED and general education classrooms
  • Ability to adapt communication styles to student needs from mild to severe
  • Strong organizational skills for managing an itinerant schedule across multiple sites
  • Comfortable working onsite and traveling between school locations as needed

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality interpreting services for students, facilitating access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to ensure communication accommodations are effective and inclusive
  • Interpret for a range of educational activities, meetings, and parent conferences
  • Advocate for communication access in both academic and extracurricular environments
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
