Job Description
A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available at an elementary school setting in Littleton, CO. This contract role supports students through 1:1 interpreting services, ensuring effective communication and accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpreting during classroom instruction and school activities.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt interpreting approaches based on individual student needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational settings.
- Knowledge of deaf culture and communication strategies for children.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with students on a one-to-one basis.
- Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and composure in dynamic classroom environments.
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in elementary school environments is preferred.
