A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support within educational settings. This role involves travel to various schools in the Lincoln, IL area, offering a dynamic environment for interpreters passionate about fostering inclusive learning experiences for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate accurate and effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their teachers, staff, and peers.
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and school activities to ensure full participation of students.
- Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to adapt communication methods suited to individual student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while advocating for student access and inclusion.
- Travel to multiple school locations within the Lincoln, IL region as required by the assignment schedule.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal interpreter training or certification.
- Experience working in educational environments or with children and youth who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
