Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an interpreter training program strongly preferred
• EIPA, RID, or relevant interpreter certification highly valued
• Prior experience interpreting in school settings, particularly K-12, is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom lessons, announcements, conversations, and special events
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt materials and facilitate full access to curriculum
• Support student participation in group activities and classroom discussions
• Serve as a communication bridge between students, peers, and staff
• Provide interpretation for meetings with parents and other school staff as needed
• Monitor and report on student progress and challenges to the educational team
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all students
