Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a school-based position located in Lake Charles, LA. This contract role offers morning hours from 7:35 am to 9:35 am and requires a high level of proficiency in sign language interpretation to support effective communication for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion for deaf or hard of hearing students.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adapt communication methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to uphold interpreting standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 4.0 or higher.
- Proven experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies.
- Ability to work effectively within a school environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
