Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and comfortable facilitating communication in classroom settings.
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally within schools or educational settings.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and best practices for ensuring accessibility.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and adapting to individual student requirements is a plus.
• Valid credentials or certification (such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure) as required by local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and activities between students, teachers, and peers using ASL and/or other required modalities.
• Provide clear, accurate interpretations to ensure students can fully participate in all aspects of the school day.
• Collaborate with educators to support student progress and adapt to specialized communication needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to developing communication strategies for individual students.
• Stay current with professional best practices and any updates in educational interpretation methods.
