Job Description

This opportunity seeks a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication in educational settings. The position is travel-based, offering the chance to work in various schools in the Knoxville, TN area, providing essential interpreting services for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel by interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa
  • Support the academic and social inclusion of deaf and hard-of-hearing students by ensuring clear and accurate communication
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to understand student needs and adapt interpreting accordingly
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpretation within the educational environment
  • Travel between school sites in Knoxville as assigned to provide on-site interpreting services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with verified interpreting skills
  • Experience interpreting in educational or school settings
