Job Description
Make a difference in a students educational journey as a contract Sign Language Interpreter supporting a high schooler in a behavioral classroom from August 12, 2026, to May 27, 2027. Work closely with a 9th-grade student who uses cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, providing critical interpretation services during instructional times at a welcoming, inclusive educational environment near Katy, TX.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with previous experience supporting students in educational settings.
- Understanding of technology related to hearing support, including cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD devices.
- Background in interpreting for students transitioning from specialized residential programs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate interaction in both classroom and behavioral support settings.
- Current licensure or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
Position Highlights:
- Provide daily interpretation services during instructional hoursaveraging 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday (26 hours weekly).
- Focus exclusively on classroom activity, allowing personal breaks during lunch, arrival, and dismissal times.
- Work directly with teaching staff and therapists to ensure full communication access and support for student adjustment.
- Help foster a supportive, accessible environment where the student can participate fully and meaningfully in classroom activities.
