Job Description
A licensed Sign Language Interpreter with strong credentials is needed for a contract position in a school setting located in Kannapolis, NC. This role supports Elementary level students at Troutman Elementary within a public school district in Statesville, NC. The assignment is onsite only, with no remote interpreting opportunities.
Employment Details:
- Contract position starting ASAP through May 27, 2026
- 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Work hours: 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, including a paid 30-minute lunch break
- Candidates must arrive before the student to prepare for their arrival each day
Qualifications:
- Licensed Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) credential required
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is essential
- Alternatively, interpreters with RID certification qualify without the EIPA requirement
- Previous experience working in educational environments preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support student needs effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpretation services for an elementary student through direct, onsite support
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, educators, and peers to promote an inclusive learning experience
- Collaborate with school staff to understand the students communication requirements and adapt approaches accordingly
- Maintain punctuality and professional presence throughout the school day
