Job Description
Make an impact supporting students by providing sign language interpreting services in an educational environment near Junction City, OR. This contract position offers the chance to work alongside a dynamic team, primarily comprised of DHH specialists and additional classroom support professionals. Multiple full-time openings are available, with assignments potentially varying based on school needs. Exact caseloads will be determined according to candidate preferences and qualifications, ensuring the best possible placement for everyone involved.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language and able to effectively interpret in classroom and academic settings
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within a school environment is a strong asset
- Current licensure/certification required for sign language interpreting in educational contexts
- Ability to collaborate within a team of support specialists
- Reliable and professional, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to share caseload preferences and home zip code for thoughtful placement
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and faculty using sign language interpreting techniques
- Support DHH students and teams, adapting approach as needed based on student or classroom requirements
- Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality at all times
- Contribute to a positive learning atmosphere, collaborating closely with educators and other support staff
