A rewarding opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in educational settings, focused on supporting a moderately cognitively impaired elementary-age child who is beginning to learn sign language. This role involves travel and is based onsite in Jackson, MI, providing full-time hours each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, educators, and peers using American Sign Language.
- Adapt interpretation methods to meet the unique needs of a developing signer with cognitive challenges.
- Collaborate with educational and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain professional standards and uphold confidentiality in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with cognitive impairments, is highly desirable.
