A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support educational needs in schools located in Lake Charles, LA. This role provides essential communication access for students requiring sign language interpretation during morning hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and educators in classroom settings.
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure full educational participation.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working with students.
Qualifications:
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 4.0 or higher is required.
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments.
- Strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and deaf culture.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during scheduled hours.
Schedule and Location:
- Contract position in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
- Working hours are from 7:35 AM to 9:35 AM, supporting morning school activities.
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly pay ranging from $35 to $40, based on experience and qualifications.
