Job Description

A position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support in educational settings. This travel-based role requires flexibility and adaptability to work in various school environments.

Location: Interlochen, MI (Travel position)

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff within school settings.
  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure inclusive learning experiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while supporting students needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting techniques.
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings is preferred.
  • Ability to travel and adapt to different school environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with educational terminology and school protocols.
