Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with Signed English
  • Prior experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities
  • Understanding of confidentiality standards related to student records and communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and professionalism
  • Holds relevant interpreter certification or state credentials as required for educational interpreters

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide real-time interpretation between students, staff, and other stakeholders using ASL
  • Facilitate effective communication during classroom lessons, school events, and meetings
  • Support educational staff by aiding in the adaptation of instructional materials
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment for deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Attend and contribute to IEP or other planning meetings related to student services
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development sessions as needed
