Location: Various schools in and around Hurricane, WV (travel required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom activities, meetings, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the educational needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Assist in fostering an inclusive environment by bridging communication gaps
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Adapt interpreting methods to suit diverse learning environments and student needs
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification preferred
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings
- Strong understanding of the educational environment and students needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability and willingness to travel to multiple school sites regularly
