Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) School-Based
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Schedule: Full-Time | Next School Year
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Position Overview:
A school district in the greater Huntsville area is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a high school student in a self-contained classroom. This onsite role ensures the student has full access to instruction and communication throughout the school day. Youll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, including another experienced SLI already on assignment. The district is moving quickly and interviewing candidates now.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 interpretation services for a high school student
- Facilitate communication within a self-contained classroom environment
- Partner with teachers and staff to support student success
Requirements:
- Active Alabama SLI Certification
- EIPA score of 3.5+ (open to slightly lower)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior school-based interpreting experience preferred
- Ability to complete required district fingerprinting
