Job Description

This position seeks a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide onsite support in a K12 school environment in Huntsville, AL. The full-time role offers the opportunity to facilitate communication and foster inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they have equal access to educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret American Sign Language (ASL) in real-time for classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, students, and support staff to support effective communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Adapt interpretation style to suit various educational settings and student needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License.
  • Experience interpreting for K-12 students preferred.
  • Strong understanding of deaf culture and ASL fluency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Huntsville, AL.
