Step into a rewarding role as a part-time American Sign Language Interpreter, supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. This contract opportunity offers an engaging challenge in a collaborative educational environment, making a positive impact during the academic year from August 12, 2026, to May 27, 2027. Youll work onsite on Fridays, with responsibilities dedicated to facilitating communication for instructional activitiesideal for professionals seeking consistent part-time hours and those looking for an opportunity to supplement their current schedule.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), with strong interpretation skills in educational settings.
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator in schools is ideal.
- Understanding of working with students who utilize Cochlear implants, hearing aids, or ALD devices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with students and staff.
- Current licensure or relevant certification; must be able to provide proof of qualifications.
- Flexible and reliable, able to substitute when the primary facilitator is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction exclusively during learning periods for a 9th-grade student.
- Foster an inclusive environment, ensuring instructional content is accessible and engaging.
- Communicate with teachers and staff to support the student's educational goals and adjustments following their return from a residential day school program.
- Adapt to needs based on the student's use of assistive hearing devices.
- Be available for additional coverage as a substitute when needed.
