Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
- Relevant certification or licensure as required by state guidelines
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, students, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff
- Interpret classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Support IEP (Individualized Education Program) implementation and accommodations
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times
- Serve as a cultural and language resource for students and staff
- Adapt interpretations to support students learning needs and goals
