Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant sign language systems
  • Previous experience interpreting in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA or RID) is highly desirable
  • Ability to interpret in real-time for classroom instruction, group work, and school events
  • Strong commitment to student confidentiality, professionalism, and effective communication

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and activities between students and school staff
  • Facilitate communication during one-on-one and group instructional periods
  • Support full participation for assigned students in academic and extracurricular settings
  • Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to meet individual learning needs
  • Prepare as needed for lessons by reviewing educational materials in advance
