Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), with fluency in both receptive and expressive skills
• Completion of an interpreter training program and hold relevant interpreter certification (RID, NIC, or equivalent)
• Experience providing sign language interpretation in K-12 school environments is highly valued
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of DHH students
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to varied academic subjects and age groups
• Professionalism, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset for working with educators and staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver accurate interpretation for students during classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and related school activities
• Support communication between students, teachers, and peers to foster full participation in the school setting
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct and school policies
• Collaborate with educational staff to address student needs and provide the best possible learning environment
• Participate in IEP meetings as needed, providing valuable input on effective accommodations
