Make an impact in the educational journey of a middle school student by providing vital communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract role, youll work 1:1 with an 8th-grade student who is hard of hearing, supporting their success in classroom activities and building their confidence in a welcoming school environment. This is a full-time assignment with 30-35 hours per week dedicated to creating an inclusive, engaging learning experience for your student.
What You Bring:
- Current Colorado SLI (Sign Language Interpreter) license.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience with American Sign Language in an educational setting.
- Previous experience working with students who are hard of hearing, ideally at the middle school level.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students both in one-on-one and group settings.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with teachers, staff, and families.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, accessible atmosphere for all students.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Provide sign language interpretation during class sessions, activities, and other school functions for an 8th-grade student.
- Facilitate clear communication between your student, peers, teachers, and staff.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to best support the students learning and social development.
- Collaborate with the school team to ensure accommodations are effective and appropriate.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide feedback on the students progress as requested.
