Job Description

Sign Language Interpreter Full-Time, Onsite Harvest, AL

Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide vital communication support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting. This full-time position offers a 37.5-hour workweek ensuring the delivery of high-quality interpreting services, including American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective ASL interpreting services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Facilitate communication between students, educators, and peers, ensuring equal access to educational content.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support student needs and contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics in all interpreting activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current license or permit issued by the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT).
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong interpreting skills.
  • Understanding of the educational environment and the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
