Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students throughout the 2026-2027 school year in the Hartselle, Alabama area. This full-time contract position plays an essential role in providing accessible education to students who rely on sign language interpretation within a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Holds an Alabama SLI license (required)
  • Preferable: EIPA certification and educational interpreting experience
  • Previous experience working in schools or with pediatric populations (preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and the ability to accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities
  • Ability to adapt communication style to fit different learning needs and environments
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to fostering inclusive education

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services for students with hearing impairments in classroom settings, IEP meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
  • Work closely with teachers, staff, and specialists to ensure clear communication and equitable access to the curriculum
  • Support students academic and social development through effective communication facilitation
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and assignments in accordance with district and legal requirements
  • Participate as a valued member of the educational team, contributing to the success of each student
