Job Description

A travel opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support schools in the Hartford, CT area. This role involves providing communication access to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective and inclusive educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and school events accurately and professionally.
  • Adapt interpreting methods based on the educational environment and student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession.
  • Travel to multiple school locations within the Hartford area as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working as an interpreter in educational settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
