Discover an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting for the upcoming academic year! You will play a key role in supporting students by facilitating clear and effective communication, ensuring equitable access to educational experiences for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners. The assignment typically involves full-time hours (35 hours per week), with interpreters generally assigned to a single schoolbut flexibility to indicate caseload or age group preferences is welcome. This is a contract position beginning August 24th, 2026, and running through June 4th, 2027.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification: EIPA 3.5 or VQAS 3 preferred; candidates with EIPA 3.0 or VQAS 2 considered if committed to increasing scores within three years
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
- Ability to adapt to various caseloads (flexibility encouraged)
- Skilled in facilitating communication between students, staff, and families
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, group activities, and school events for students and staff
- Foster an inclusive environment by supporting students participation in academic and social experiences
- Adjust interpreting style to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with educators to ensure full access to curriculum
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethical standards
