A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support elementary school students across multiple locations in the Hammond, IN area. This role is ideal for interpreters who thrive in a travel position, assisting an elementary school caseload while rotating between five different school buildings. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpreting services for elementary school students across multiple school settings
- Interpret in various classroom and school activities, ensuring effective communication between students, educators, and staff
- Travel between five distinct school buildings within the district to fulfill caseload duties as an itinerant interpreter
- Maintain compliance with professional standards and assist in creating an inclusive educational environment
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate appropriate accommodations and communication access
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5; a 4.0 EIPA score is highly preferred
- Previous experience interpreting in school settings, particularly with elementary-aged students
- Strong communication, adaptability, and organizational skills for managing a multi-location caseload
- Comfort with travel and flexibility working between various educational sites
- Ability to work independently and as part of an educational support team
