Job Description
Step into a vital role supporting deaf and hard of hearing students in an engaging school environment. In this full-time, onsite contract position, youll be instrumental in fostering access and inclusion for elementary and intermediate-aged learners by bridging communication between students, their peers, and staff. This is a consistent need for the current and upcoming school years, offering reliable hours at approximately 30 each week across a MondayFriday schedule.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in sign language interpreting, including both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign modalities
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
- Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 are welcomeapplicants will be considered for an ASL paraprofessional role
- Fluency in ASL with an associate degree is also accepted
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all school settings
Core Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between deaf/hard of hearing students, their classmates, teachers, and other school personnel
- Assist students with academic subjects, including reading, writing, and math
- Support students in developing vocational or daily living skills
- Supervise students during classroom instruction, outdoor activities, or community-based learning
- Maintain a supportive, team-oriented approach to help each student reach their potential
