Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state Interpreter License required
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Bilingual skills strongly preferred for one of two positions
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule, all day, Monday through Friday
  • Experience in a 1:1 or classroom-based educational interpreting role
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and adaptability

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a middle school student
  • Interpret in classroom, educational, and extracurricular settings
  • Foster accessible communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in line with state requirements
  • Collaborate with staff to support the students individualized educational needs
  • Participate actively in the school community to enhance the educational experience
