Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with fluency in interpreting spoken English to ASL and vice versa
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or similar settings preferred
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- RID certification or equivalent credentials highly desirable
- Ability to adapt interpretation style to meet individual student needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, lectures, discussions, and school events between students, educators, and peers
- Collaborate with other educational professionals to ensure full participation of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom and extracurricular activities
- Provide interpreting services during meetings, assemblies, and parent conferences as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions
- Assist in developing strategies for accessible learning and positive student engagement
