Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License
• Familiarity with state and district guidelines for educational interpreters
• Prior experience interpreting within educational or youth settings preferred
• Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL)
• Collaborates effectively with classroom teachers, special education staff, students, and families
• Flexible, dependable, and demonstrates keen cultural sensitivity

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Support students participation in classroom lessons, school activities, and social interactions
• Adapt interpretation style to individual student needs and grade levels
• Assist in developing communication access strategies with teaching teams
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all student interactions
