Job Description

Bring your expertise in American Sign Language and passion for student support to a rewarding contract position in an engaging elementary school environment. This opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact for young learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH), facilitating communication and supporting educational access in accordance with IDEA, ADA, and other legal requirements.

This role focuses on bridging the gap between students, teachers, staff, and the community by providing high-quality sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation. A typical week includes 31.5 hours on-site, working closely with D/HH students under the guidance of the education team. There is also the chance to perform instructional activities, further contributing to each childs success. The assignment runs from September 3, 2025, through June 23, 2026.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Verifiable completion of an Interpreter Training Program
  • An RID and/or EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or above (EIPA score required per Washington State law)
  • A valid Washington State Drivers License or reliable means of transportation
  • Previous experience supporting students in school-based settings preferred
  • Skills in American Sign Language interpretation in classroom and educational contexts
