Job Description

Bring your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) to a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting elementary students! This onsite position near Gettysburg, PA calls for a dedicated interpreter to provide 1:1 support for a 5th grade student in a Life Skills classroom, ensuring effective communication access and inclusion throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required)
  • Proficiency in ASL with ability to interpret in educational settings
  • Previous experience working with school-aged children or within special education environments preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, staff, and teachers
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct interpretive services between student, peers, and educational staff, maintaining clarity and accuracy at all times
  • Facilitate both receptive and expressive communication for academic and social activities within the Life Skills program
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure student engagement and access to curriculum
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards outlined for educational interpreters
